Procedural overview: encrypting documents
Before you can encrypt a document, you must create an encryption key and then enable encryption for at least one field in the document with that key.

A document can be encrypted when it is first saved, or it can be encrypted when saved after an editing session.

1. (Optional) If you are using a secret encryption key for encryption, start by creating the key. To do this, see the topic "Creating a secret encryption key."

2. Enable encryption for a field.

3. Do one of the following to assign the encryption key to a document:
