Domino 12.0.2 provides the following features and enhancements related to configuring users and servers.

Policies

Control the default font in the Notes mail text editor

Use the notes.ini setting MailEditorFontAsDefault=<fontname,fontsize> in a Desktop policy to apply a default font to be used for the Notes client mail text editor.

Use a Mail Settings policy to allow users of any mail-in database (shared mail file) to which the policy applies to send messages from alternate addresses.

From a Mail Settings policy, click Access and Delegation -> Access to Your Mail & Calendar. In the Mail file delegationsection, select Enable Alternate From Feature. Optionally, to allow internet addresses to be used automatically, selectAutomatically use internet address of Mail-in database as sender.

HCL Notes V12.0.2 provides a new Workspace design. If you'd prefer not to use it, a notes.ini setting is available to revert to the V12.0.1 design.

When specifying an embedded internet browser for the Basic client in a Desktop policy, Internet Explorer is replaced with Microsoft Edge. This feature requires the V12.0.2 pubnames.ntf design.

Mail file design refresh property ON by default

In the mail application, the property "Refresh design from admin server only" is newly ON by default. Now, during user registration, the user's mail file and any replicas specified during that time has have this option turned on. This is true whether the mail file and replicas are created in the foreground (by the admin client) or the background by AdminP.
The option for an individual application can always be deselected by using the menu command File -> Application -> Properties and then the Design tab.

Free time lookups on Microsoft 365 users

The Exchange Busytime Connector task (ExConn) performs searches and returns results so that HCL Notes, Verse, iNotes, and Traveler users can do free time lookups of Microsoft 365 users. For more information, see Setting up free time lookups for Microsoft 365.

Active Directory Password Sync installation

Improvements to Active Directory Password Sync installation are added, including providing an install option as the method of performing the install.

Virus scanning (ICAP protocol)

On systems that route mail, you can set up Domino to work with an ICAP protocol server to scan attachments in mail messages for viruses. A third-party ICAP protocol server such as Trend Micro web security or McAfee web gateway is required to do the virus scanning.
A new domain-wide Domino database, cscancfg.nsf, defines your virus scanning configurations. You can define the actions that Domino takes when it finds messages that contain viruses. There is also a separate database to store logs of messages and attachments that contain viruses. You can optionally choose to save messages with viruses to a quarantine database. New statistics are provided to help you monitor how many messages are scanned and how many have viruses.
The functionality includes a new Domino task, mailscan, that performs the actual scanning. It works in cooperation with the Domino router task. Messages that contain attachments must be processed by mailscan before they can be routed. Messages that do not contain attachments, as well as any encrypted messages, are not processed by mailscan and are directly routed.

Domino servers which receive SMTP messages directly from the internet can be configured to use the Sender Policy Framework (SPF) and DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) protocols to reduce spam. Messages deemed to be untrusted as a result of spam reduction checks can optionally be sent to the recipient's Junk folder. See Delivering untrusted mail to the Junk folder.
